-Where and What kind of house or property? ----------------------- Think about what you are looking for: privacy or neigborhood, views or wooded, one floor living, older home or new, number of bedrooms, etc. Make a list of characteristics that you want and number them by order of importance.

-How much can you spend? ---------------------------------------It is important that you consult with your Banker or Mortgage Lender in order to be pre-qualified for a mortgage; you may be surprised to learn that you are better qualified than you thought. Your Real Estate professional can give you a list of lenders.

- Explore, explore, explore . . . -----------------------------------if you have the time. Ask your Real Estate agent to send you printed listings and Homes magazines and, if possible, to put you on "automatic email". If you can, it is a good idea to drive by properties first; that will cut down on time spent looking since you will probably quickly like some and not like others. Hints: when you do go to visit homes, plan to be asked to remove your shoes at some houses and take something to drink while in the car!
